During my time working around South Melbourne this year, I was introduced to this delicious eatery down Clarendon St called El Habanero.
This Mexican delight opened its doors in 2014 by Axel Castillon and partner Daniel Brown with the purpose of sharing authentic dishes often found in Mexico. Most of the dishes that you will see on the menu came from Axel’s mother. Growing up with his mum’s favourite home-cooked meals, Axel wanted to share their families’ specialties with all who have not experienced the classical dishes that have been loved for generations.
Pictured below are all the tacos we ordered.
This one was my favourite: the fish tacos with Chipotle Salsa, cabbage, cactus and coriander. The fish is dipped in batter before being lightly fried, it is not too oily and they come out piping hot. The sauce would have to be my favourite, squeeze a bit of lime in the middle of your fish flakes and there is nothing to be dissatisfied about.

A mixture of all the tacos available on the menu: Fish, Pork, Chicken, Spinach and those are cucumber and jalapeño margaritas (delish)
