Virgin Melbourne Australia Fasion Festival VMAFF 20.03.2015

Last week wrapped up the Melbourne Fashion Festival also known as the VAMFF (Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival). The week long schedule involved showcasing Australia’s biggest brands as well as emerging designers all over the country.

Having had a jammed packed week filled with personal events and birthday getaway, I managed to book myself some last minute tickets to the National Graduate Showcase Presented by Target.

This event entailed a focus on the next generation of Australian fashion talent mostly between NSW and VIC . The prestigious runway gives a huge opportunity for design graduates to showcase their talent in front fashion icons, media and industry professionals.

My favourite picks from the show was Lauren Acciarito’s collection of feminine origami-like structured dresses that drapes and folds together like a flower. The pastel fabric flows beautifully on the models down the runway making it hard not to stare in awe and excitement. Her theme was a cross connection between the physical form of flowers and the female body.

Another eye-catching collection would be Vanessa Emirian’s circle madness as captured below. Her designs are out of the modern world with lots of embellished circles and cylindrical handwoven textures.
